I've been working on some changes around my domain. First, I created an honest to god real front page at HawkTailDesign.com instead of the pretty lame index listing that I have had there for the last few years.
In doing this I eliminated easy direct links to our photo galleries, so I created Hawk's Eye to store all my galleries. Not all my gallleries are listed there yet, but they will be over time.
Finally, I wasn't totally happy with posting my photos using BetterHTMLExport from iPhoto, so I looked for a better way of creating and managing galleries. Luckily for me, just a few months ago, Douglas Bower (of Stopdesign) released some excellent templates to turn a Movable Type 3 blog into a great photo gallery. I've only added one of my galleries to the new system right now, but I am interested in feedback. Below are the links to my Peru gallery in both the new and old style.

Noah, we will be in Rincon de Guayabitos from Jan 22nd to Feb 2nd for vacation. I don't know if we will make it to Guadalajara (i believe about 4hrs away) but it would be fun to touch base.

Posted by: TRACY at January 11, 2006 07:41 PMHello Cousin Noah, I received your email long ago and still have not written back :(
I've recently been considering hosting my own domain/blog again, I've had two seperate domains in the past but nothing recent. After looking into B2Evolution, MT3, and some other php/SQL blog software, and after looking at your site and photo gallery, and following the links for Douglas Bower's photo templates, I have to say you have made the right choice with MT3/Douglas Bower's Templates.
I am seriously considering doing the same setup.
My biggest concern has been iPhoto doing all the thumbnailing and HTML/php tagline exports, as I do not have a (current) mac (think Mac Classic), I have desided to go with the Pear PC Project(for linux) to run OSX and iPhoto w/ Photon plugin.
Anyway, as I said above, I think you have made the correct choice with MT3/Photo Templates.
Its just too bad that I dont live anywhere near as cool as Mexico, so I dont think anyone would want to read my blog anyway :P

Posted by: brad at January 16, 2006 04:31 PMUnfortunately, time for this decision has long since passed. I am definately going with the new style. The good news for those of you who, like Brad, like the old style, is that the old style galleries still exist, but you will need to have the link to be able to view it.
