Katrina Response

I, like everybody else, am horrified by both the tragedy of hurricane and flooding. I also am horrified by the response by the Bush administration. The response has been unacceptable. This nation is no more prepared for a large scale disaster, natural or man-made, than it was on Sept. 11th. The fault for this falls squarely on the shoulders of the Bush Administration.

Of course, it is not enough to blame somebody for obvious failures of leadership. Make sure that you give what you can to the Red Cross. At this point the most urgent need is money, but I'm sure that the blood supply is starting to run low.

If you missed the Daily Show last night, try and find somebody with Tivo. It is important to see Jon Stewart's comments. He was right on the money. He even had a very good and timely interview with Marc Siegel, author of "False Alarm: The Truth about the Epidemic of Fear". You can view the very intro, but not the best part of Jon rant at the Daily Show website.

I think the worst of it is the obvious disregard for human life shown by the administration. A great example of this is former first-lady Barbara Bush's comments:
"And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this--this (she chuckles slightly) is working very well for them."

Makes me want to buy this t-shirt.
