Oregon AG Recomendation

Gov. Kulongoski and the AG Hardy Meyers had a press conference today and announced the AGs recomendation (PDF) about same-sex marriage. Basically the AG said that Oregon statues do not allow for the issuing of same-sex marraige certificates, but that this statute would likely be ruled as unconstitutional. So, at once, the AG struck a blow to same-sex marraige supporters, and gave them hope that the Oregon Supreme Court would rule the current marraige statutes unconstitutional.

This opinion does not force the county to stop issuing same-sex marraige certificates.
